1 Going Zero to Landfill. Converting Waste to Energy. Improving Social and Environmental Resilience.

2 NEW HORIZONS WASTE TO ENERGY
Using the latest technology disrupt waste management in South Africa. Collectively, communities are increasing earth’s waste burden. There is also a growing need for energy consumption. Add a state-of-the-art biogas plant. Which converts non-hazardous waste into clean, environmentally- considerate, low-carbon energy. Provides an alternative energy resource. And we create a circular economy which offsets the collective carbon footprint and the community’s reliance on finite, expensive fossil fuels.

3 Client truck unload mixed Municipal Solid Waste(MSW) and Wet Trade Waste (WTW) in the main tipping hall. At a separate entrance, trucks deliver and dump pure organic waste (POW) POW Liquid CO2 is pumped into storage tans and collected by tanker trucks, while Biomethane is compressed odorized and stored into tank trailers, which are collected regularly Pow is loaded into an organic press which separates organics from solid waste and liquefies the organic material The biogas is cleaned dried and then enters the separation plant for separation into Biomethane (CBM) and Co2 ORGANIC EXTRUDER PRESS BIOGAS SUSPENSION BUFFER TANK The organic material is pumped into the suspension buffer tank and after analysis, pumped into the digesters, where it is digested by bacteria to produce biogas through anaerobic digestions. The biogas, captured at the top of the digester, is pumped to the biogas upgrade plant CBM

At a separate entrance, trucks deliver and dump pure organic waste (POW) POW Pow is loaded into an organic press which separates organics from solid waste and liquefies the organic material FERTILISER ORGANIC EXTRUDER PRESS The digestate, from the digester, is sent to a centrigue to separate and solid and liquid material and solid as an organic fertilizer CENTRIFUGE SUSPENSION BUFFER TANK DIGESTATE The organic material is pumped into the suspension buffer tank and after analysis, pumped into the digesters, where it is digested by bacteria to produce biogas through anaerobic digestions. The biogas, captured at the top of the digester, is pumped to the biogas upgrade plant ANEROBIC DIGESTER

5 BULK WASTE SORTING ROLLER SCREEN MSW WTW Client truck unload mixed Municipal Solid Waste(MSW) and Wet Trade Waste (WTW) in the main tipping hall. At a separate entrance, trucks deliver and dump pure organic waste (POW) MSW and WTW are loaded onto conveyor belts, undesired material is removed ,plastic bags are mechanically opened and the waste is separated by size RECYCALBE SORTING PLATFORM Larger items are transported to the manual sorting platform, for waste pickers to extract as much recyclable waste as possible ORGANIC EXTRUDER PRESS Smaller items are transported to main press after metal items have been removed/ The press squeezes any organic material out of waste SUSPENSION BUFFER TANK ANEROBIC DIGESTER

9 Planning a WtE project Resource Contracting Technology Choices
Detailed resource assessment. Building a WtE plant is like planning a mine. Contracting Municipal Contracting limitations Private Resource Contracting Technology Choices Do not limit the tech choices Energy Flows Environmental SA Environmental Legislation is complex
