"March That Mile Together"
LAST WEEK August 10th 89th Annual FLORIDA DISTRICT CONVENTION It’s not too late to register!. INVOCATION SPEAKER Heavenly Father: So many times we become immersed in daily troubles and hardships. Help us to see beyond these small problems and instead work toward making our community a happier and healthier place for all. Please guide us in our efforts this day and the days to follow. And now bless this food to our use and us to Your service. Amen All new members, seasoned members, officers and Board members should plan to attend the annual event for Florida Kiwanians on August 24-27, at the Renaissance Orlando Resort at Sea World . For those who have been to past Florida conventions, you'll agree that these conventions include a lot of great workshops, speakers, and our election of October 1st District officers--and there is still time for fun, so bring your families. THE CARING CORNER Each Florida District Convention includes a Caring Corner which sells items to help fund and support our sponsored programs - Key Clubs, Circle-K, K-Kids, Builders Clubs and Aktion Clubs. Please consider donating items which can be delivered to the Caring Corner by Beaches members who attend the convention. Items to donate include: handmade crafts, homemade foods, artwork, antiques, collectables, select jewelry, gift certificates, travel opportunities, use of a vacation home, sports memorabilia. Let's help make this year's Caring Corner another successful fund raiser Bill Montgomery UPCOMING EVENTS DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING Sept 4th "March That Mile Together" OFFICER INSTALLATION September 21st The new officer installation will be held at Fleet Landing. The bar opens at 6 PM, and dinner will be served at 7 PM. $20 for spouse or guest. This will be in lieu of the regular lunch meeting. “A clean conscience is a good pillow” Fortune Cookie Our March of Dimes Campaign goal is for each Kiwanian in the Florida District to give 6 inches of dimes. That would be equivalent to a mile of dimes. A club representative will bring our donations to the Convention. Paper cash or check is preferred. Butch Shadwell and Dan Corritore attended. The Fletcher Key Club starts meeting on Tuesday Aug 15 at 2:30pm, in room F-2, and will continue on that time and date until further notice. They want to do a Penman cleanup project on August 26 at 8am. We invite the membership to join us on that date and time as well. University - Bartlett Kinne University Center, 11:30 (Meets the1st & 3rd Wednesday) Deerwood - Carrabba’s at Baymeadows and 9A, Noon ( ) Thursday Jacksonville Beaches - Selva Marina, 1600 Selva Marina, Atlantic Bch, 12:15 Westside - Holiday Inn I-295 & Commonwealth, 12:30 Have a fun and rewarding experience reading to the kids at Jacksonville Beach Elementary School. Mentors read materials provided by the school, and encourage the kids to do well.
