2 INTRAmolecular vs. INTERmolecular
INTRA molecular bonds are like the main type of bonding. (Ionic or Covalent) INTERmolecular bonding exist between molecules INTER is a lot WEAKER than INTRA!!

3 What are they? Forces that exist between molecules!!

4 They exist in… Mainly solids and liquids
Do not exist in gases b/c their molecules are too far apart … so no attractive forces is needed!

5 Dipole/Dipole Forces of attraction that exist between POLAR molecules!! Have higher m.p./b.p. than nonpolar molecules! Polarity depends on the orientation of the molecule (lewis structure)!!

6 HYDROGEN BONDS Strongest type of IMF
Occurs only b/w H and a small, highly electronegative atom such as N, O, or F Has the highest mp/bp of all 3!!

7 LONDON (dispersion)Forces
Occurs mainly in NONPOLAR molecules! It is the WEAKEST force of all 3! Has the lowest mp/bp of all 3!! Forms temporary, instantaneous dipoles!
