Purpose: Provide you with my expectations for the science fair.
2
Science Buddies PLEASE go to the website and visit the section called PROJECT GUIDE. It will expand upon all the sections of your project that you should focus on.
3
Question Can it be answered through an experiment? Is it clear? Can you control the necessary variables? Can you easily measure the variables?
4
Variables Have you clearly defined the variables? Do you understand the difference between independent, dependent, and controlled variables?
5
Hypothesis I think… Because… Don’t Lie! If you are wrong, be honest. Research is about finding out the truth, not being right.
6
Procedure The procedure must be clear enough so that anyone can follow it, duplicating your experiment, and ending up with the same results.
7
Results and Data Just say exactly what happened.
Use tables, graphs, and written observations to convey EXACTLY what happened during your experiment. Do not explain why, just tell what…
8
Conclusion State whether your hypothesis was supported or proven false. Explain why you think your experiment turned out the way it did. State what you think you could have done to improve the experiment. State what you would do next to improve your experiment or continue exploring the question.
9
Bibliography List all the information you used to support your experiment. Include people, books, websites, etc…
