2. Litmus Paper What is Litmus Paper?
An “indicator”
Small strips of filter paper that react in the presence of an acidic or basic solution.
Paper is treated with fungi (lichens) which acts as a dye.
Acid or Base Test
Red litmus will turn blue when in contact with a base.
Blue litmus will turn red when in contact with an acid.

Properties: Tastes Sour Reacts with Metals & Carbonates Turns Litmus Paper Red

4. Bases
Properties: Tastes Bitter Feels Slippery Turns Litmus Paper Blue
