Asia (Clymene) By: Nima Nwozo

Family & Background Titan goddess of fame, renown, and infamy Daughter of Oceanus and Tethys so she was an Oceanid Wife of Titan laeptus who was the eldest of the Titans

Children Asia (Clymeme) and Iaeptus had four sons: Atlas Epimetheus
Prometheus Menoetius

Other relationships in other stories
Many other figures had the same name, Clymene, in Greek mythology Also she said to have married Helios who was the personification of the sun and they had Phaeton and Heliades One story said she was the servant of the famous Helen of Troy who was the daughter of Hippacles and Aethra and half sister of Theseus Another Clymene was daughter of Catreus and sister Aerope

Prometheus Prometheus- During the Titanomachy, the war between the Titans and the Olympian gods, Prometheus sided with Zeus and helped to overthrow the old gods. He avoided being punished like the other Titans who got sent to the Underworld (Tartarus) He was presented to be the protector and benefactor of mankind but in an event called A Trick at Mecone but ended up tricking Zeus into choosing the offering of the latter and hence that made people keep meat to themselves and sacrifice bones to the gods instead. Then Zeus got very angry and stole fire from humans which Prometheus got back. Finally Zeus tied him to a rock and an eagle ate his liver which was then regurgitated since he was immortal. In the very end Hercules, the demigod, saved it

Atlas During the Titanomachy Atlas sided with the Titans and was the leader in battle. Since he was on the losing side Zeus condemned him to stand on the western side of Gaea (the Earth) holding Uranus (the sky) on his shoulders He was the Titan god of astronomy and navigation married to his sister Phoebe with whom they had many children He was involved in the 12 Labors of Hercules because Hercules asked him to bring golden apples from Hera’s garden. So Atlas said while he was going to get the apples Hercules should hold the sky. He almost tricked Hercules into holding it forever but Hercules escaped the trick.

Epimetheus His name was derived from a Greek word meaning “afterthought” which is the antonym of his brother’s name Prometheus meaning “forehthought” Epimetheus was the foolish one in the stories while Prometheus was the clever one During the Titanomachy he sided with Zeus like Prometheus did When Prometheus and Epimetheus were told to give traits to newly created animals, he gave a positive trait to every animal with lacking foresight. So Prometheus had to step in and give man the civilizing arts and fire

Menoetius His name was derived from the ancient Greek words “menos” meaning might and “oitos” meaning doom. So his name put together means doomed might. He also was called Menoitos He may have been the Titan of violent anger, rash action, and human immortality During the Titanomachy he was Zeus and banished to Tartarus
