Tethering
Care
Fresh, clean, unfrozen water available at all times.
Sufficient quantity and quality of food to maintain good health.
Adequate veterinary care when necessary.
Tethering by choke chain or rope around the neck is prohibited.
Tether must be at least 5 times greater than the length of the dog.
Area where dog is tethered must be safe and free from debris.
Poop scoop daily.

Basic Standards of Dog Care
Providing care for the general
welfare of your dog.
Pens and Enclosures:
Must be made from materials that are safe and do not pose risk of injury to the dog.
Must not have floors made of wood, metal, wire or materials that can cause injury.
Can not be stacked on top of each other.
Can not contain more than 3 dogs unless one is a nursing mother.
Can only contain one pregnant or nursing dog except her nursing offspring.
Can not contain a dog that is a danger to other dogs in the enclosure.
Must not have a floor that is less than 9m² for one dog and increase in length and width by one meter for each additional dog.
Must be one meter higher than the tallest dog in standing position.
Must have housing that is defined in Schedule B and have an area that provides shade at all times.
Must be poop scooped daily.
Whether tethered or kept in pens or
enclosures Schedule B requires owners to provide their outdoor dog with daily social interaction with people and/or animals, toys, and daily exercise away from their pen or tether.
Designed to protect dogs that are kept outside in weather conditions that may pose risk to their health.

Measuring the Sleeping Area
Minimum Floor Space equals:
232cm² (36in²) for every 2.5cm (1in.) in
height in standing position.
Example: Dog is 25in. in height standing
Area = 36 in.² x 25 in = 900 in.²
= 30 in. x 30 in.
= 2.5 ft. x 2.5 ft.
Minimum ceiling height equals:
5cm (2in.) greater than height in sitting
position.
Example: Dog is 27in. in height sitting
Ceiling height = 27in + 2in = 29 in.
