Community development approach is linked to the Holistic Concept of Health. Create a model for the wall which identifies Holistic Health using these headings: - Mental health - Physical Health - Emotional Health - Social Health - Spiritual Health - Societal Health Ensure you give examples of what each of them mean. Any activity which improves any of the aspects of health outlined in your model will contribute to the promotion of health.

4 Community Development
Community Development approach seeks to develop communities! In St James in Hereford some local residents wanted to improve their local park which was full of broken bottles and used by older teenagers at night. They consulted the community, got a grant to improve it and are in the process of improving it. What aspects of health do you think will improve in the local community? What are the benefits of consulting the community?

Health promotion activities performed ‘face to face’ Theatre company with workshops Interactive computer packages Peer led activities Health professionals talking face to face

6 Small Group Work Choose either the Community Development or Two-Way Communication Approaches. Identify the types of health promotion that would be good to do through your approach. (Think of as many examples as you can, and give reasons.) Identify the advantages & disadvantages of both If you went to Dying to Drive, identify the good and bad points of it in terms of two-way communication.
