A chicken coop is a house for all the chickens to stay in. In the chicken coop you can find female chickens, called hens, and males, called roosters. In here is where the chicken life cycle takes place.

8. The egg starts by developing inside of the chicken
The egg starts by developing inside of the chicken. The egg stays inside of the hen for approximately 24 hours!

9. The hen lays the egg in one of the nests inside of the chicken coop.

10. The hen will now lie on the egg to keep it warm for 21 days
The hen will now lie on the egg to keep it warm for 21 days! This process is called roosting.

11. 21 days later!
The chick, wet and weak, breaks out of the egg.

12. Shortly After…
The chick becomes dry and fluffy.

13. It takes approximately for a chick 5 months to grow in a chicken and start laying eggs. When the chicken starts laying eggs, the life cycle has started all over again.
