Launch Microsoft Excel
Find the “Datastream” tab OR click on “Add-ins” and select “Datastream”.
Find the item on the menu called “Sample Sheets” and launch it.

2. This is the list of “Samples Sheets”.
Scroll down to the “Equities” section.

3. Find the “Screening Template”, click the box next to it and click “Download and Open”

4. Wait for the sheet to download and then click “OK” when the dialog box appears.

5. For your first screen, click the “Find Series” tab.
This is your INPUT screen. Here is where you enter your screens. Once you run the screening, it will appear in the “OUTPUT” tab.

6. Use this screen to select your initial list of stocks
Use this screen to select your initial list of stocks. With the criteria entered above, we will get a list of BOND “universes” that are from Canada.

7. Select the one you want and click on it.
This is my results list for Canada BOND universes. Look at the “size” column to see how many bonds are in the universe.

8. Notice that our Universe List Code is now the one we selected.
We must enter 3 more screens on the left hand side of the form.
The following slides show different choices for your screens. Find 3 that you want to use and note their names and mnemonic codes.

12. Once you’ve chosen your screens, enter them in the first four spaces on the form. Note that here we have done only 2 screens. In the first line, enter the mnemonic and in the second line the name (if you do not enter the name, your chart will not be properly labeled). When you are ready, click “Run Screening”.

BE PATIENT! This may take a couple of minutes to generate. This is your screening report. If you want to change your criteria, click on the “Input” tab (it is an Excel tab, at the bottom left). If you change your criteria, you must click “Run Screening” again.

14. Finishing
Save your work to your USB drive or save it to the computer’s hard drive (and then to yourself using web )
Congratulations! You are now done!
