Acts 2 The Gospel to the Nations

How did the gospel and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit impact these very human leaders and cause them to focus on God’s purposes with such power?

Transformation

Pentecost is the miracle that writes the law of God on men’s hearts.

The transforming power of the Gospel.

Empowering by the Holy Spirit

“The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26

The Nations

“World vision is getting on your heart what has always been on God’s heart.” Dawson Trotman

The leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit.

Expectant faith and persevering prayer rooted in the promises of God.

The point of Pentecost is mission, and by the same token, our Calling is impossible without the filling of the Holy Spirit.

At Babel, God pushed them toward His original purpose for them: to fill the world, cultivate it, build cultures and grow. Do we need a similar push?

God’s Purposes

“Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.” Acts 2:43

“Your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams
“Your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17

Our Calling To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

In Acts 2 we see God step in to replace the small ambitions, private agendas and debilitating fears of leaders with worship and bold proclamation.

The Holy Spirit helps us understand that we are not really living until we are plugged into God’s purposes and swept up in the advance of the gospel.

Committed Communities

“All the believers were together and had everything in common
“All the believers were together and had everything in common... Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” Acts 2:44, 46

Funding

“All the believers were together and had everything in common
“All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.” Acts 2:44-45

Discipleship, Leadership and Mission
