The application of cold butter to bread has proven to be a challenge for many enthusiastic breakfast goers but now with SpreadTHAT!, the challenge is gone. Designed chiefly by Jung-Ya Hsieh the founder of the Taiwanese Gixia group. The very best materials were included in the production of SpreadTHAT! including heat conductive materials. SpreadTHAT! works by transferring heat from your hand to the cold butter, making an innovative and easy way to spread butter. Also works with other spreads such as jam, peanut butter, etc... 6 Promotion SpreadTHAT! began their promotions by asking for donations using a video to show contributors the impressive technology and to ask for investments. The makers of the knife then managed to get the product into some of the biggest distributors in the cooking industry. ST promoters also set themselves apart by offering informative timelines and production processes on their website.

7 Direct Competition SpreadTHAT! is a one of a kind product and stands alone as a heated butter knife. Warburtons, a UK based bakery did design a battery operated butter knife, but the Toastie Knife never actually made it to production. A similar product has been developed and manufactured in limited quantities in Australia. The knife is called ButterUp and uses serrated holes along the knife edge to produce easily spreadable butter.

8 Indirect Competition The biggest indirect competition for the SpreadTHAT butter knife is a regular butter knife. The “easy spread” margarine or butter options can also cause competition indirectly.

9 Plans for the future SpreadTHAT! was the start of a successful brand of kitchen hardware, and the founders plan to add more products to the line. Some of which include SipTHAT!, GripTHAT!, TorchTHAT!, and HeatTHAT! The founders of SpreadTHAT! are also involved in a big project to develop wall economics, moving typical floor oriented electrical appliances to wall mounted configurations. The Gixia Group is involved in many projects, developing and inventing being their expertise.

10 Recommendations Add more information to website to engage consumers.
Lower the manufacturing price to lower the selling price. One can buy a butter knife for three dollars if they go to the right place so making it affordable to the market majority is necessary. Post direct links to distributors’ websites to enable customers to buy the product immediately.
