2 SIGN LANGUAGE: WHAT IS IT? A sign language (also signed language or simply signing) is a language which, instead of acoustically conveyed sound patterns, uses manual communication and body language to convey meaning. This can involve simultaneously combining hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions to fluidly express a speaker's thoughts.

3 Most people commonly think that sign language is the same worldwide however this is not true. Depending on the location different hand gestures and body movements are used to communicate. In Australia our sign language is called Auslan. SIGN LANGUAGE

9  Access this PowerPoint saved in the public room 12 ART folder under sign language art.  Copy and paste the Auslan sign language on to a word document.  Crop the sing language movements for your initials and enlarge them to take up a page.  Print your sign language initials and past onto an A3 sheet of paper.  Decorate your background with items that represent you. BE REALISTIC WITH WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE IN 1.5 HOURS CREATING YOUR OWN SIGN LANGUAGE ART
