Introduced in They are diplomas in sport, equivalent to GCSE’s and are vocationally based.

As well as PE there are separate GCSEs in dance.
First step to higher education
Important to achieve a ‘C’ or above to go on to the next level

4. GCE Next level up from GCSE
First year known as AS level, A2 is the second year of study.
Graded the same as GCSEs
University places decided upon results.

5. Sports Performance Award
Increasing number of these available.
Linked to specific sports e.g athletics
Sports Leaders UK level 1Award in Sports Leadership.
Can lead on to level 2 community leader

6. Proficiency testing and awards
These are often developed and made available through NGB’s (National Governing Bodies) and delivered by schools.
Many PE departments use award schemes to test and reward students e.g athletics, swimming, gymnastics.
