2. BUDGET SPEECH 2015/16 5854 houses to be built for Milvets over MTEF
Active projects in 8 provinces will yield 2129 units
709 units budgeted for in the 2015/16 Provincial Business plans
Total budget for 2014/16 including contribution from DMV is R177million
Balance of the units to be delivered in the next two years

3. THE DATABASE DMV has established a Database;
The Database and is the only source from which beneficiaries are identified;
The first applicants were preloaded and tested against the HSS and the results were reported to DMV;
The HSS has also been adjusted in line with the latest qualification criteria of R per annum

4. QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
In 2013 regulations for military veterans benefits including provision of housing were published by DMV:
A veteran qualifies for housing assistance if-
He/she is not employed and receives a pension from the State;
Is employed and earn less than R per annum;
Does not own a house;
Has not previously received a house or other benefits;
Has a spouse- the spouse has not received a house or other housing benefit from State.

5. FUNDING ARRANGEMENT
Comprises two funding streams: Housing Subsidy Scheme & DMV top-up funding;
The cost of the house is determined at R ,00
The subsidy house cost is R
The amount to be paid by DMV (top-up) is R rounded off.
