Learning goals solve square root and other radical equations

2 Radical Equations A radical equation is when there is a variable under the radical. You must check your answers because there may be extraneous solutions (solutions that do not work in the original problem) You must state any extraneous solutions.

3 Ex 1 Isolate the radical; if there is more than one, isolate one at a time. Take the radical to the appropriate power. Solve for the variable. Check your solutions, then state the solution and any extraneous solutions.

7 Radical Inequalities If the index is even, identify the values of the variable for which the radicand is nonnegative. (you cannot have a negative # underneath the radical with an even index) Solve the inequality algebraically Test values to check your solution
