1. Dinosaurs Nursery Week 1
Expressive Arts and Design
Our role play will be our dinosaur world where the children can play together, listening to each others ideas and making up stories. On the creative table children will paint a dinosaur using the pictures to help with shape and colour. In music the children will be singing dinosaur action rhymes and learning a dinosaur song which later on they will put actions to.
Communication & Language
Literacy
We will be finding out lots of information about dinosaurs, their names, where they lived, what they ate. The children will carry on practicing to write their names.
Personal, Social, Emotional Development
Our SEAL topic is – Good to Be Me. The theme is about understanding our feelings as well as considering our strengths and weaknesses as learners. It aims to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in three key social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings and empathy. We will talk about the things that we are really good at which will make us feel proud of ourselves. This week we are talking about different feelings and what makes is feel that way.
Mathematics
Some children will be continuing to learn their numbers to 10 with Ten Town, this week it is Sir Seven. They will also play Bingo using numbers to 5. The older children will play Bingo using numbers to 10 and will also count out a given number of objects from a larger group. Then matching the numeral to the quantity of objects.
Dinosaurs Nursery Week 1
Phonics
In phonics some children will be playing lots of listening games and the older children will be learning all about the letter ‘d’, what sound it makes and objects that begin with that sound.
Physical Development
We will continue to do our finger and upper body exercises in dough gym and in PE this week we will be looking at the different ways dinosaurs moved and putting our movements to music.
UW - Technology
The children will use the interactive board to count and match the number of dinosaurs to the correct numeral. We will also have some ipads out for the children to use.
