3 Who Were Patriots? What demographics were usually patriots? Merchants
Workers in cities Non-British immigrants

4 Who Were Loyalists? What demographics were usually loyalists?
People appointed (hired) by the King Farmers in rural areas Native Americans

5 City vs. Country People living in cities were more likely to be Patriots, while people living in the country were more likely to be Loyalists. This split between City and Country continues... Civil War: Urban North vs. the Rural/Agricultural South Post WW II: Cities tend to be more “blue” (Democratic), Country tends to be more “red” (Republican)

6 Classwork Assignment Create a historical head of either a Patriot or a Loyalist. Include 4 illustrations Include a caption for each illustration Think about: Why would a person be a loyalist/patriot? Hand this in on the way out!
