1 Cover Page Should include: Your name Your Instructor Your School
And the Class and Hour (You may include a pic, here, if you so desire)

2 Focus Question How does knowing the contexts histories, and traditions of art forms help us create works of art and design?; What criteria, methods, and processes are used to select work for preservation or presentation?; and, How does art help us understand the lives of people?

3 Title Abstract What/who is your analysis about?
What are the main points (4-5) that you will talk about in your analysis? Do not forget that one of your points is surrounding a thought of why you chose the artist/movement There is no required length for your abstract.

4 Abstract Expressionism
Abstract Expressionism started in America as a post-World War II art movement. It was the first art movement that arose from America and put New York at the center of the art world. The term Abstract Expressionism was first applied to American art in 1946 by art critic Robert Coates. It is most commonly said that Surrealism is its predecessor because of the use of spontaneous, automatic and subconscious creations. Abstract Expressionism gets its name from the combining of emotional intensity and self-expression of German Expressionists and the anti-figurative aesthetics of abstract schools where Futurism, Bauhaus and Synthetic Cubism came from. Many of the artist from this movement such as, Jackson Pollock and Max Ernst, for example, are unique.

5 Save Your Work!!!!!!

6 Body of the Analysis Introduction
This opens your analysis to the reader. Just like you would introduce someone to an alien idea, how would you attempt to relate this to him or her. Example This brief analysis is an introduction to Duchamp. Duchamp was an artist born in……(all this covers is his birth, maybe and any personal/ home life that’s not very relevant to the movement )

7 Body continued How many points, referred to in your abstract, do you have? Flush out the idea in its entirety What does that mean? For every point, you are Describing, Analyzing, Interpreting, and Judging the points you have chosen Please do not short change yourself; if you do, I shortchange your grade. You are to treat this just like you are taking your exam, since it is part of your final exam You will not have the chance to re- submit, so go to the writing lab; pay attention in your English classes and look at examples of works on the web Use artist vocabulary, found in your file or on the website

8 Conclusion Wrap it up! Simply re-state the body in a past tense, the opposite of the abstract. For example, the abstract talked about when he was born, the conclusion refers to when he died. The Conclusion is simply putting your final touch on your thought that may not have fit into he analysis. There is no length requirement to this analysis or sections in the analysis. However, do not attempt to short-cut yourself. You short-cut your self, I short-cut your grade
