1 Kindergarten 2017 Transition Program

2 Why is Kindergarten Transition important?
Opportunity for students to experience elements of primary school. A chance for students to meet other 2017 Kindergarten students and start to build friendships and familiar faces. A chance for us as a school to meet your child, get to know them and a little bit about their interests, their skills and how ready they are for school. A chance for you as parents and carers to have opportunities for some information sessions prior to school starting where we can hopefully address any questions you may have and make the transition to school as smooth for everyone as possible.

3 What will transition look like?
Students have been placed into four different groups – Blue, Red, Green and Orange Each group has set transition times. These are on the letter that you were given at the start of Orientation this evening. Student leaders and 2016 Kindergarten teachers will come and collect the students from the hall and take them to the 2016 Kindergarten classrooms. Whilst the students are having fun and learning the room, there will be information sessions run in the hall for parents and carers to attend. 2017 Kindergarten students will be walked back to the hall to be picked up at the conclusion of the transition sessions.

4 Parent Information Sessions
Session One: Best Start Assessment Session Two: Tips for School Readiness Session Three: Family Support – presentation by Uniting Care Session Four: The importance of speech and listening skills – presented by Jenny Pickford (Speech Therapist)
