6 Get Into Groups by Book Research the author of the book.
Write a few sentences describing the author. Include the author’s purpose in writing the novel. Describe   the setting and its significance to the novel. Discuss the primary conflict in the novel. Who was involved? Was it resolved? Describe the main character in the novel in a few sentences. What is the main character’s motivation for his or her actions? Explain. Choose two of the following literary terms and apply them to the novel (symbolism, allusion, imagery, diction, detail, syntax, dialect). Find two examples of foreshowing and explain what they foreshadow. Discuss two or more secondary characters. Describe them thoroughly. What is the resolution of the book? Explain why someone should read this book. Sell it!

7 Socratic Questions What did you think the book was about?
Did the author seem to appear in the book? How? Why? Was the presence of the author disruptive? Or did it seem appropriate/fitting? What about the plot? Did it pull you in; or did you feel you had to force yourself to read the book? How realistic was the characterization? Would you want to meet any of the characters? Did you like them? Hate them? Did the actions of the characters seem plausible? Why? Why not? If one (or more) of the characters made a choice that had moral implications, would you have made the same decision? Why? Why not? How does the setting figure into the book? Who was your favorite character? Why? What about this character made him or her stand out to you? What do you think the author is trying to tell us?
