Chapter 6: Required Defence Resources
CFO will present the Financial Instruction for the costing of the Force Design to the DSC on 30 May 2005.
CFO will present the Force Costing Proposal at the PDSC on 18 July 2005.
Submission of Chapter 6 to the editing committee will be one week thereafter, i.e. 25 July 2005.

10. Approach to Public Consultation
The position on public consultations adopted by the MOD and PCD is the following.
The route embarked upon in the writing of the 1996 White Paper and Defence Review, i.e. the holding of workshops in nine provinces, was not feasible to undertake in the present Defence Update 2005 process due to time and resource constraints.
It was envisaged that public hearings, that which was held on 25 Oct 2005, would suffice to provide the necessary platform for civil society to make inputs into the drafting of the Defence Update 2005.

11. Way Forward Interdepartmental Workshop
A one interdepartmental workshop represented by the IRPS and JCPS Depts.
A date for such a workshop needs to be fixed and will be informed by the revised timelines.
