Compulsory Modules: Theoretical Foundations in Economics Introductory Session M.Sc. Economic learn technical skills required in modern micro & macro analysis, acquire a working knowledge of Game Theory to analyse strategic behaviour obtain a thorough understanding of the fundamental workhorse models in Macroeconomics to analyse questions, such as the causes of unemployment, the determinants of economic growth and the role of fiscal and monetary policy in stabilising business cycles Learn about the major shocks to the world economy and how different countries dealt with it. There are some lessons from history to show us how much -or how little -we have learned. Ten of those can be elected without restrictions, the other two modules have to be seminars. Maximal two courses can be chosen from other Master courses (e.g. Management and Social Sciences) If students wish to focus their studies on ”Inequality and Economic Policy”, at least 30 ECTS have to be chosen in that area. Maximal two courses can be chosen from other Master courses (e.g. Management and Social Sciences) If five modules of the elective modules are chosen with at least 30 credits and with at least one seminar with 6 credits as well as a master‘s thesis with a subject in the Major Field „Inequality and Economic Policy“, the title of the Major Field will be declared in the certificate. The modules beloning to the Major Field can be found in the module catalogue. The choice of the modules can be bound to certain preliminary courses (as stated in the module descriptions - see prerequisites for attention under Compulsory modules cannot be chosen.
