9 Cooperation with the Czech Statistical Office  Framework institutional cooperation agreement between Faculty of Informatics and Statistics,UEP and the Czech Statistical Office (CSU)  Forms of cooperation:  Consultancy & expertise (membership in the national Statistical Council – 2 seats, external methodological audits)  Joint research activities & projects  Ph.D. students  Master thesis  Participation of CSU experts in education  Joint post-graduate professional study programme in official statistics

10 Post-graduate professional programme  Programme offered as a joint project with the Czech Statistical Office  Teaching staff: UEP + selected CSU experts  Very long tradition (now in Round 23 – the project has been running now for 45 years …)  Most students are the NSI employees, but the offer is opened also to other government institutions  Prerequisities: Master level degree  Main target group: employees with other master level degrees than statistics (economics, public administration, sociology, informatics …) who want to broaden their knowledge of statistics and of the system of official statistics

12 Post-graduate professional programme Organizational format:  two-year (4 semesters) programme  4-5 courses per semester  taught in one-week compact sessions, 3 sessions per semester, on an outside location  16 exams/credits  final thesis focusing on application on chosen area of official statistics
