The training test is teacher directed and allows them to learn and practice using the tools that will be available to them on the test. In the last few weeks we have been doing practice activities in order for the students to have a better understanding of the format of the test. My goal is for them to feel as comfortable as possible with the format so they can concentrate on completing the assessment to the best of their ability. Home practice is not required; however, it is an opportunity for students to learn more about the online test tools and navigating the online assessment interface. We will be testing on March 30th, 31st and April 3rd and 4th. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep during this time and a healthy breakfast. Thanks for your support! Does this look okay to you? Story Quilts We will be beginning our last social studies unit at the end of this month. As a part of our unit, we will be studying life and people from long ago. To kick off our unit, we will be creating a story quilt of an older family member or friend (at least two generations older) to get a better understanding of life in the past. I sent home a letter with interview questions that your child will need to ask their family member or friend. The letter went home on March 30th and the completed interview and information needs to be returned to school on April 17th. We will be starting our quilts on the 18th so it is important that the interviews are completed by then. Writing: After Spring Break, we will begin our next unit in writing—Fairytales. During this unit, students will hear a variety of well-known fairytales and the adapted versions of the fairytales. In class, we will be looking at characteristics of this genre of writing and work to create our own adapted versions of them. Math: After spring break, we will be continuing our work in Module 6: collecting data. Students will be learning about different types of graphs, data and how to compare information using graphs and charts. Keep practicing those multiplication and division facts at home! Night of the Notables The official date for our Night of the Notables presentation is Thursday, April 6th from 5:30 – 6:15. Please drop students off at school at 5:15. They need to have their costumes on and materials ready. At this time, it will only be students in the classroom setting up. The door will open for you at 5:30. I imagine this will go until about 6:15. Thank you again for all of your support during this project!
