Background: AI community disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS Training Centers (TCs) have long history of collaboration All TCs struggling with providing services to AI communities Capitalized on funding to bring in representatives/advocates of AI communities to guide TCs efforts

2 Outcomes Collaborative training plan completed
Completed with input from AI stakeholders in the Mountain Region Initiatives include the following products that can be used by TCs nationwide: guidance on working with gatekeepers and provider champions in AI communities. a combined risk assessment tool for HIV Substance Abuse Reproductive Health STD a map showing the impact of HIV in AI communities The map will be used to educate the provider community regarding the prevalence of HIV in the AI communities. AI specific resources for training regarding HIV testing and risk assessment, if there are no other appropriate training resources available; i.e. the first task will be to determine if there are resources already available. Website Sustainability: Each TC has integrated collaborative training initiatives into their ongoing work efforts FTCC Collaborative Website to Coordinate Efforts to Reach American Indians/Alaska Natives In the Mountain Region (and nationally, for that matter), no single resource provides a comprehensive overview of basic information vital to providing training to NA/IHS providers. To meet this need, the Mountain Region FTCC is developing and updating a searchable website that quickly provides information such as tribal health sites and contact information, known disease and outbreak histories, identified training needs and preferences, relevant tribal information, results and listing of previous trainings provided by FTCC members, and a calendar of future trainings planned by FTCC members. FTCC member organizations will be able to upload and download materials such as existing needs assessments, presentation slides, and evaluation materials that would be beneficial in planning and delivering training. This site would be used as a reference for TCs when planning to provide training in these communities.
