1 Scripture Reading Matthew 5:13-16

2 Introduction Most of us have heard the saying, “I would rather see a sermon than hear one any day.” The fact of the matter is, we are all preaching sermons everyday. We think of sermons as lessons being spoken by a man that is paid to deliver such. However, our lives are more effective sermons than any ever uttered by words. What we are is seen and heard above what we say.

3 Some Preach There Is No Need To Be A Christian
Some, by their actions, teach that the world would be just as good without Christ and Christianity. Jesus is not their Lord of Lords. His commands are not essential (Luke 6:6; John 14:15). How do they do this? By indifference, neglect, complacency, lack of obedience and support.

4 Some Preach That It Is Not Necessary To Worship
For some, they teach that there is no need to assemble on the Lord’s Day. They teach that there is no need to commune, give, sing, pray, to edify, etc. Others teach that it is not important to assemble on Wednesday evenings. How do they do this? Not from the pulpit. They do it by not assembling (Hebrews 10:25).

5 Other Sermons We Preach
“I’m not my brother’s keeper.” “Living righteously does not exalt a nation nor an individual.” “Dressing modestly is not in style.” “Compromise is not a bad word.” Now, no one that I know would actually stand before a group of individuals and preach lessons of this nature. However, there are individuals who preach these kinds of sermons everyday.

6 Some Are Real Preachers of Truth And Righteousness
Every action of their life is a sermon for truth and righteousness. Consider the blessedness of such an individual (Ps. 1). Consider what kind of force upon a community when all Christians are preaching such sermons! (Acts 17:6). Consider again the exhortation, “I would rather see a sermon any day.”
