5. Communication Applications
There are a number of different applications that two or more individuals can use to communicate.
The applications that they can use have different advantages, disadvantages and features.

6. Communication Applications
The facilities of the different applications are merging over time.
Different software companies are incorporating features into their programs that blur the boundaries that used to define the different types.
E.g. the ability to send files through instant messaging is very similar to .

7. Communication
For a communication to take place, there needs to be a minimum of two people:
The sender (author) and the recipient.
The author can compose a message using text, sound or images.
The recipient can be one or more people.
