4 MLK vs Malcom X Talk Out Discuss the following quotes regarding the methods to achieve equal rights in the US. What does each quote tell you about that persons beliefs regarding how men and women of color have to act to become a part of mainstream American society (white America)? Do the quotes seem to agree with the documents we read for each activists? Why or why not? Which quotes do you agree with? Why Which do you disagree with? Why Quote 8 MLK: Why should we create an image of blacks for whites to fear and hate? Quote 2 MLK: Your ideas of self-defense will provoke more violence against blacks. Quote 1 Malcom X: Your “nonviolence” results in more blacks being beaten and killed. Quote 10 MLK: “An eye for an eye” will only make the whole world blind. Quote 5 Malcom X: Nothing will change until black people start fighting back. Quote 9 Malcom X: I can’t love a group of people that has oppressed my people for over 300 years. Create a two page dialogue between Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X that reflects their differing viewpoints on the method African Americans should use to achieve equal rights in the United States follow these steps to complete your dialogue: Begin your dialogue by copying the following lines on a piece of paper Malcolm X – Martin, you’re going about this civil rights thing all wrong.
