1 Guided Pathways Fall 2016 - Forum #1
A DISCUSSION ABOUT PROCESSES

2 Want to Know More? Stay up to date with current events at Butte College See what’s already been done locally and throughout the State and Nation Check out current examples at other colleges See who’s serving on which committees Check out what you can do to help Butte College now has its own Guided Pathways Website: Butte.edu/ guidedpathways

3 Exploring vs. Implementing
Need to create draft program maps in order to find kinks in designs and plans. Important step in the process of exploration to determine whether implementation of a Guided Pathways model is feasible.

4 Mapping Exploration Thus Far
Meet weekly with faculty to map programs Goal is to map all ADT programs and as many CTE as possible by end of term. Already mapped 4 programs Identified issues and special notes for students Developed a set of guidelines Established a Design Team Counseling – Debbie R. and Steve S. Scheduling Center – Heather and Marie Curriculum Chair – Bob White Donna Davis (Academic Senate) Research Analyst – Madeline Weiss Guided Pathways consultant - Jesse Lawson

5 Program Mapping Guidelines
College and Career Pathways will include general information about the pathway and links to the programs within that College and Career Pathway. An academic program may be listed in more than one College and Career Pathway is this makes sense based on the program. Program information will include a description with career and transfer information and a program map in both web and brochure format. College and Career Pathways and Program Maps will be subject to review by the Curriculum Committee to ensure that existing programs maintain integrity with the catalog descriptions and GE courses are not prescribed when not appropriate.

6 Program Mapping Guidelines cont.
Program maps will be developed by the faculty in the area with support from Scheduling, Counseling, Curriculum Chair, Guided Pathways Faculty Coordinator, and Research Analyst. Guided Pathways will map existing program using the following goals: Completing the program in the minimum amount of units (justification required if over 60 units). Mapping for academic transfer programs will be aligned with CSU, Chico requirements. Degree programs will be mapped to be completed in two years (four primary terms).

7 Program Mapping Guidelines
Make note of any course on a pathway that is only offered in the Fall or Spring semester. For programs in which the transfer degree differs from CSU, Chico requirements, students will be directed to an appropriate program map. General Education components will include: CTE Programs and local programs: Butte General Education ADT: CSU General Education IGETC for Biology and Chemistry

8 Program Mapping Guidelines
Basic Skills onboarding options will be provided. By level below transfer initially. Possibly by “Career and Transfer” and/or College and Career Pathways over time. Where possible, program maps will be stackable (showing certificate and degree programs on the same map). Program maps will be the Academic Programs tab of the college website. GP College and Career Pathways link directly to this.
