The Queen gave an EDICT to the mayor to give bread to the poor.

Formal words spoken or written by a jury that charge a person with a crime The man received an INDICTMENT from the jury of disturbing the peace.

10 preDICT To say what will happen before it occurs
The weatherman PREDICTS the weather for the week.

11 verDICT The decision a jury makes in a trial; the decision said by the jury The jury read the VERDICT as guilty.
