1 in 5 adults experiences a mental health condition in a given year About 1 in 20 lives with a serious mental health condition 1 in 5 children and youth experience a mental health condition 9

10 Lack of Treatment Fewer than one-third of adults and one-half of children receive treatment There are long delays—an average of eight to ten years—from first symptoms to a proper diagnosis

11 Lack of Treatment School failure
About half of students living with a mental health condition dropout Unemployment Only 1 in 3 adults living with a mental health condition is employed, but most want to work 11

26% of the homeless population lives with a serious mental health condition Hospitalization 1 out of every 5 community hospital stays is due to a mental health condition 12
