2 Termite Control : Principles
Basic principle of termite control is to deny moisture source : lack of moisture leads to desiccation of the termites. Create a barrier so that the termites cannot reach No good physical methods / barriers are available for curtailing the infestation of the termites The most common barrier is use of chemicals Chemical barriers are proved to last for a long time provided : The chemical has good termiticidal property The timing of application: Pre construction is always better than Post construction application.

5 Treatment for Masonry Foundations & Basements

6 Treat with Biflex to a height of 300 mm
STEP : 1 : Bottom and sides of trenches After digging the pit Treat bottom surface & sides of excavations made from masonry foundation & basements P I T Treat with Biflex to a height of 300 mm 300 mm At a dose rate of 5 lt / m2 Biflex

7 STEP : 2 : Backfill in Immediate contact with foundation wall
After masonry foundation & the retaining wall of the basement is built STEP 2 Back fill earth The backfill in the immediate contact with the foundation to be treated with Biflex STEP 2 STEP 1 Treat Biflex @ 7.5 lt / m of the vertical surface of the sub structure for each side STEP 1 Lot of voids are seen in this type of foundation, hence the entire foundation require to be completely enveloped with Biflex Biflex

8 STEP : 3 : Top Surface & Plinth filling
The top surface of the consolidated earth within plinth walls shall then be treated Back fill earth Back fill earth Treat Biflex @ 5 lt / m2 of the surface before the sand bed or sub-grade is laid STEP 2 If the filled earth is rammed and the surface does not allow the emulsion to seep through, the make holes upto 50 to 75 mm deep at 150 mm centres to facilitate saturation of the soil with emulsion STEP 2

9 STEP : 4: Junction of wall & floor
Top surface STEP : 4: Junction of wall & floor The junction of wall and floor should be treated with chemical barrier on inner wall surface from ground level STEP 3 Back fill earth Back fill earth STEP 4 Treat Biflex @ 7.5 lt / m of vertical wall or column surface to be used so that it soaks the soil upto the bottom STEP 2 STEP 2

In RCC foundations the concrete is dense( 1:2:4), hence termites are unable to penetrate the structure. Therefore it is unnecessary to start the treatment from the bottom of excavations. The treatment for RCC construction should start from a depth of 500 mm below the ground level except when the ground level is raised or lowered. If the ground level is raised or lowered – then depth of 500 mm should be determined from the new soil level The vertical structure of the RCC foundations shall be treated at the rate of 7.5 l / m (similar to Step 2 of Masonry foundations) Back fill earth
