Alignment between Career & Technical Education curriculum and labor market needs
Ongoing collaboration among education, employers and industry partners
Work-based learning opportunities for our students and instructors
Foster student enrollment in post-secondary education
We recognize that there is a growing mismatch between the skills of the available workforce and the skills needed by employers today. We want to help narrow the skill gap.
Over arching goal:
Have ongoing discussions between local employers and our schools about the essential and technical skills needed in the workplace by our graduates.
To that end, we feel like our focus needs to be on these 4 Core Principles.
Our Vision is really about getting students in the workplace. Whether they attend college or not, we want all of our students to have jobs, be productive and successful.
Again, that is why we are here today.

Next step….The North Carolina Chamber Foundation serves as the final certifying body to designate a NC Works Certified Work Ready Community. They meet in December (12/5/16) to approve our application. Then they will contact us and help with public service announcements (PSAs).
