3 Some background… Before 2016, limited online resource page,
no social media How we can improve our online resources/ have a social media presence? LibGuides and Twitter were part of the conversation Worked with administrators: create a Twitter account, create a better online resource page Main idea: highlight library, students, connect students with online resources/ databases

4 And Now… LibGuides Twitter
A completely redesigned library resource page Well-used by students and teachers Easily accessible, interesting, current resources Easily updated and managed Interesting and relevant for the students Twitter Active account Followed by many people Focuses on library/ school events Highlights students

11 Pushing the library “beyond the four walls”…
Helps me bring the library to the students, rather than the other way around Flexibility to go into the classrooms- all I need is a computer, projector, and an Internet connection Broad range of digital resources- support curriculum and learning Tools to navigate an information-rich world Teach 21st-Century skills in context (research, evaluate and use information, etc.) Empower students: take ownership of learning, prepare them for life Collaborate with and support my colleagues Support our BYOD initiative

12 Final Thoughts on LibGuides
Ease of use Integrate social media (Twitter) and my online catalog (Follett Destiny) Create and organize tabs and pages how I like Usage reports and statistics- keep what is being used, replace what isn’t An investment in the library program
