9 Length of Service Awards
Auto Run – every other month – approx 2500 Manual Request – each month – approx 50 Cloth emblem or enamel brooch available Service does not need to be continuous Occasional Helpers do not accrue service

10 Meritorious Conduct and Gallantry
The difference: Gallantry is where the individual puts their own life at risk during the action Meritorious Conduct is courage, initiative, or great suffering - but no element of personal risk Cornwell Scout Badge (members under 25) is awarded for cases of extreme suffering or action involving danger Issued monthly during the year (if urgent within 48 hours)

12 Who does what? Gilwell Park
Lynda Gray – Reward & Recognition Team Co-ordinator & Jackie Heale – Reward & Recognition Team Administrator Awards Board Appointed by the Trustees for 5 year term (maximum two terms) Chairman – Richard Butler; overall 7 Members (inc 2 under 25) The Board normally only considers the St George’s Day Awards, Meritorious Conduct, Gallantry, Cornwell, CSPA & Bar to Award for Merit Scout Shops Ltd Supply Thanks Badge & Commissioners Commendation within local control

13 Citation It’s all the Awards Board can rely on
Not required for Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service or Award for Merit (but a few notes useful) Only a few bullets for Chief Scouts Personal Award Basic for Bar to Award for Merit Quality essential for all other awards Always remember its quality of service above what the role requires be specific on achievements only info since last award is appropriate more of same v increased quality

15 Templates for citations
Two support forms Word documents than can be attached to nomination forms help shape the citation by structuring comments by answering questions Type if possible easier to read allows other to suggest changes locally and to amend can be printed on application or attached separately forms can be downloaded from scouts.org

16 Compass membership database
Holds details of roles, training, awards and DBS Names, address and dob etc need to be correct Check Woodbadge and DBS information / expiry Ensure all roles are recorded – amend before sending to Gilwell Database errors means Length of Service Awards are incorrect Allows Awards Reports to be run Eventually process will be all online with auto checks

19 Commissioners Commendation
To recognise adult and youth members and non-members for their contribution to Scouting This award carries no set criteria and can be used where HQ Awards do not match the situation Is not to be used for Good Service merely because an adult has not completed appropriate training The award is restricted and can only be purchased from Scout Shops Ltd by the County / Area / Island / Region (Scotland) Commissioner or their Badge Secretaries Certificates can be ordered via the Print Centre of Scout Shops
