4 Inform Test Result is Positive and Provide Support (6)
Inform HIV positive test result simply & clearly Ensure understanding of the test result Acknowledge the difficulty of the situation, but express confidence that the patient will cope & adjust Ask if there is some one the patient can talk about their serostatus 8-3

5 Provide HIV Clinical Care Recommendations (7)
Mention available medical care that can help the patient live longer and better life Encourage the patient to get evaluation and treatment for HIV and provide referral 8-4

6 Address Disclosure and Partner Referral (8)
Explore patient’s feelings & anticipate his/her partner’s reaction towards the positive HIV test result Discuss possible approaches of disclosing positive HIV test result to partner Emphasize the importance of Partner testing & referral 8-5

7 Address Risk Issues and Provide Referrals (9)
Provide the following prevention messages:- The best way to assure that his/her partner doesn’t get HIV or any other STIs is not to have sex Advise to use condoms every time they have sex Provide condom if available in the C&T room or provide information where to get it & demonstrate how to use 8-6
