2 Date How do we hear? Label the structures of the ear
Explain how a sound outside the ear turns into a signal that gets to the brain.

3 Listen and draw You need to get into pairs and number yourselves 1 and 2. You will need a piece of paper. 1 you need to face away from the board 2 face towards the board but not able to look at 1. Number 2 will have 2 minutes to describe to number 1 what is on the board and they must draw it. Swap roles and do the same again. This is good to demonstrate with 2 students at the front

8 You now need to label the parts of the Ear and stick this in your books

9 Narration Divide your page into 6 sections Number them 1-6 For each step of hearing, you will need to draw a picture to represent that step. At the end, you will need to decode your pictures to work out what they mean Read out the slide that’s 2 ahead but do not show them it. When they have drawn them, ask them to write 1-6 on the next page and write out what the pictures mean, this may need prompting to start with but they will get it.

The drum hits the bones: hammer anvil and stirrup The bones hit a liquid The liquid moves some tiny hairs The tiny hairs send signals to the brain The brain puts the signals together to understand the sound
