3 Purpose of the assessment survey
To Collect updated information on the status of implementation of the 2008 SNA in member States To get an understanding of what remains to be done Findings are to be shared with all SNA project stakeholders To provide directions to stakeholders (international and regional organizations and development partners) on supports to countries when developing their work programmes

4 Methodology of the assessment survey
Questionnaire sent to all African countries, with questions regarding The existence / status of development of an Action Plans. Specific questions where asked on The status of endorsement by national authorities Foreseen period of implementation Estimated implementation cost Selected new base year Planned period to develop a plan (if no plan exists) Whether assistance is needed Concrete works being conducted or planned. These concern: Implementation of new classifications Collection and processing of source data Accounts compilation phase Back-casting series Publication

Questionnaire sent to all African countries, with questions regarding training workshop or seminar received in 2015 and needed in 2016, regarding particular accounts development stage: Concepts, definitions, and classifications of 2008 SNA Collection and processing of sources data Use of computer tools for the compilation of national accounts SNA 2008 compliance - for production and asset boundaries Employment matrix Supply and use table (SUT) Quarterly GDP Production accounts or subsequent accounts: distribution and redistribution of incomes, Capital, Financial Etc. On-site technical assistance required /received (the same development stages) Financial support required and received

48 countries responded. These are: Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

18 Conclusion The survey offered an understanding of the intention and organisation of countries for the adoption of 2008 SNA through rebasing Partners assistance is required throughout the process. Although present this assistance is limited in regard to the needs Taking in consideration countries’ planned activities when planning their interventions will enable partners to better target countries current needs
