3. Introduction
In digital cartography a distinctly identifiable graphic or object in the map or page layout. for example ,a map element can be a title, scale bar, legend etc.

4. Title
Used to tell the reader what the Map represents. This is often placed on a map layout as text.

7. The Legend
This is essential on any map-without it, In- formation cannot be extracted. the legend should be clear with the symbols,point,line and area, large enough for clarity. It is normally best to show the legend in a vertical column of symbols and their descriptions down the right hand side of the map. If this is not possible, the legend should be placed in the bottom margin of the .it must be clearly titled LEGEND or KEY.

12. The scale
Provides reader with the information they need to determine distance .A map scale is a ratio where one unit on the map represents some multiple of that value in the real world .it can be numeric(1:10,000) graphic(a scale bar),or verbal(1 inch equals 10,000 inches).. A scale line is also necessary, but should not be too long not more than about 10 cms.

The north point should with be large enough to be quickly found on the map, but should not be too prominent.

The values of Latitude and Longitude must be shown at convenient intervals around the sheet edge.
