4 QUICKWRITE: Great White vs.
Grizzly Bear In your opinion, who would win in a fight to the death and why do you believe that?

5 Picture it:  in one corner, one of the most imposing land animals, the ferocious, Grizzly Bear, one swipe of whose paw could level most animals (certainly including a man); in the other corner, the ocean's most feared predator, the relentless eating machine -- the Great White Shark, capable of swallowing a man whole.  The battle would have to take place in three feet of water -- the depth in which most shark attacks occur as well as the environment in which bears do most of their fishing.  Who would win?

6 It's anyone's guess.  With the shark's enormous mouth-span, it could swallow the bear's entire head in its jaws, but one well-placed bear's claw to the gills and the shark would be done for.  Whatever advantage the shark has in sheer size, the bear makes up for in mobility and brains (it is a mammal, after all).  Bears may not be used to prey which can fight back, but clearly the shark would not be prepared for an opponent of such power, either.  The result is tough to determine, but one thing is for sure:  it's a good fight.

7 In a fight to the death, who would win?
Evidence will be found on the next slide. Grizzly Bear vs. Shark Claim: Counterclaim: Rebuttal: Provide a sentence for each; however, in the rebuttal, I will need evidence cited as (McKerley). In a fight to the death, who would win? This is citing evidence

8 The Grizzly Bear is the largest land carnivore on Earth
Grizzlies can stand up to 10 feet tall on their hind legs and weigh up to 1,500 pounds!  Front claws are strong, slightly curved, up to 5 inches long, plus they have 42 teeth!    Heavy, stout body with strong, muscular legs and a distinctive muscular hump at shoulders yet can move up to 35 mph for long durations! Worry about grizzlies holding a grudge - they live between 15 and 30 years.  That's a lot of torment! The Great White is the largest carnivorous fish in the world The Great White can grow to up to 21 feet in length, with an average of 12 to 16 feet Has serrated teeth -- sharp enough to saw wood - after all, their name comes from the Latin words for "ragged teeth"! Skeleton made of cartilage instead of bone -  this makes it easier to bend and harder to break the animal in half! All sharks love fatty meat (like bears!)

9 Celebrate Fiction 2/16/17 You are to write a story – a narrative – using the sentence I gave you. The story must begin with the sentence.
