2. There are 3 types of Irony?
Verbal
Dramatic
Situational

3. Verbal Irony
      Verbal Irony. Verbal irony refers to spoken words only. Verbal irony occurs when a character says one thing, but suggests or intends the opposite (i.e. means another)
When a late-comer is told sarcastically, “Thanks for joining us.”
When people start clapping and hollering when a plate falls on the ground.

4. Sarcasm
Sarcasm
(1) used on colloquial level; bitter or cutting speech intended to wound the feelings (derived from Greek word for "to tear the flesh")
(2) bully--cruel, merely to hurt
All Sarcasm is verbal irony, but
Not all quotes are verbal irony

5. Dramatic Irony
Dramatic Irony--Dramatic irony is a relationship of contrast between a character's limited understanding of his or her situation in some particular moment of the unfolding action and what the audience, at the same instant, understands the character's situation actually to be. 

6. In other words
When the audience and reader are privy to information that the characters in the book have no idea of what is happening.
Example: In Titanic when the captain says we don’t need all these rescue boats because this ship will never sink.

7. Irony of Situation
When an event occurs in a story that is the opposite of what you expect to happen.
Something about the situation is completely unexpected.
Example
General Sedgwick’s last words were, “They couldn’t hit an elephant at this distance.”
Bill Gates uses an Apple computer.

10. Coincidence is not irony
Don't confuse coincidence with irony or something that is ironic, which many people do regularly as well.
A coincidence may have a parallel associated with it, but that alone doesn't qualify it as ironic.  A coincidence is the occurrence of an event, or series of events, that can happen by chance or accidentally at the same time or at different times but seem to have some connection. But actually, the things that lead to and become part of the coincidence usually don't have any connection to each other than happening by chance.

11. So now comes the questions.
Make up your own example of each type of irony.
