6 IBM Datacap The leader in enterprise content capture

7 Multichannel capture services: Datacap
Scan Files FAX Mobile Capture and digitize across mobile devices, scanners, , fax and files IBM Datacap Automated Document Identification, Data Extraction and Classification for fast & accurate document processing Integration with business systems – Deliver document data to people and systems for better customer engagement IBM Case Manager IBM Case Repositories For those who are not familiar, let’s start with an overview of content capture and imaging generally. IBM Datacap, and products like it, serve 3 key functions – First, they are responsible for managing the capture and digitization of content at the source, whether that’s a scanner, a fax machine, a mobile device, or an or file server. Second, they serve as the first source of intelligent, analytical insight as these solutions extract data from the page through Optical Character Recognition or a combination of other pattern recognition technologies – this is what makes your digital content searchable and this is what enables content capture solutions to execute their third function, Which is integration with various business systems to deliver extracted insights, data, and content wherever they are needed to support business activity. In addition, Datacap gives the business analyst powerful tools for capture orchestration and system fine-tuning. With IBM Datacap, business analysts can create and modify capture workflows without being technical experts. A simple graphical interface and wizards enable configuration with immediate feedback on changes. For administrators, an application management tool makes it easy to copy an entire capture application – including custom code, database schemas and the like – to additional servers such as from a Development environment to a Test or Production environment. In summary, IBM Datacap centralizes capture activity and leverages cognitive capture analytics to lower the cost of maintaining and rolling out new business solutions - it's faster to implement, train, and perfect, and it will cost you less money and risk fewer errors than manual data entry or human-driven content extraction. © Copyright IBM Corporation 2017 IBM Analytics © 2016 IBM Corporation

9 Documents contain key business information
BANKING Account opening Lending applications Investment reports Regulatory, Compliance GOVERNMENT Benefits management Social services Permits and licenses Program enrollment Records Management INSURANCE Claims Processing Underwriting Enrollment Appraisals Investigations Healthcare Medical claims Patient Onboarding and discharge Prescription Processing Health record ENERGY & UTILITIES Account Opening Permits & Planning Correspondence Applications Regulatory, Compliance CROSS INDUSTRY Accounts Payable Invoice processing Human resources Licensing & Certification IBM Datacap is critical to ingesting new content and immediately putting it to work on behalf of your business and your customer. That might mean delivering account information to a fraud prevention solution to more quickly verify customer identity or it might mean checking test results against previous patient records to determine health risk levels. Here’s a sample of the industries which leverage Datacap to achieve more efficient, highly-differentiated capture solutions. Regardless of your industry, you will find that IBM Datacap is a valuable component for any business application because it converts content to workable data and insights quickly at the point of capture, wasting no time to tap the value of your content at its source. Some processes are common across sectors, such as onboarding an employee or a citizen or a new customer. It’s a similar process – you need basic information and sensitive information – name, address, SSN, employee number, account number – and you need contracts, signatures and supporting documentation. Other sectors have special requirements – financial services and governments have specific record keeping requirements for example. Across all sectors, organizations are struggling to deal with documents – to unlock the valuable information locked inside paper, PDFs, s, faxes, and to be able to automate ingestion, automatically extract, and activate the information contained therein. © Copyright IBM Corporation 2017

10 Cognitive capture services: Datacap Insight Edition
Recognize, classify, and extract key data from documents not seen before … Use IBM Watson to eliminate templates and manual processing No other vendor has anything like this! Now traditionally with capture, you had to train the solution on each type of document by zoning page areas and specifying what information came from what area and what kind of form it was. This is problematic for use cases like mortgage applications, where you might have 30, 40, 50 documents all of different types that comprise a mortgage application. So being able to recognize the kind of document and classify it automatically without a whole bunch of manual labor required upfront will dramatically improve the productivity of larger customers that are doing high volumes of capture. In 2015, IBM introduced cognitive capture capabilities with IBM Datacap Insight Edition and no other vendor has developed anything like this! We have a tremendous amount of customer excitement around cognitive capture and the Insight Edition platform is maturing every day, integrating new intelligence and enabling more and more innovative capture use cases. Cognitive capture leverages analytics and machine learning where these technologies are needed most – at the point of content ingestion. This enables training for capture solutions to recognize forms and unstructured documents that have never been seen before and for which there is no expected format. Put simply, IBM Datacap Insight Edition brings an entirely new level of flexibility and accuracy to the content capture and imaging space that no other vendor can achieve.  © Copyright IBM Corporation 2017

11 The Global Footprint of the IBM Cloud

16 Life Insurers Pains MAXIMIZING FAST TRACK MORE WITH LESS
Requires better, more informed decisions MAXIMIZING FAST TRACK Avoiding medical records, Paramed exams MORE WITH LESS Greater insight to rate more precisely Special authorizations, APS review STREAMLINING THE PROCESS ACCURATE RATING In support of convenience, speed and transparency insurance companies can no longer rely on the life insurance processes of old. Requesting Blood tests, physicals, EKG’s and have the customer wait for weeks or months for a decision. The fast track will be the new norm and it has to be accurate. The Attending Physician Statement or APS is a large amalgamation of an applicants medical history. They can be critical to an applicants decision and depending on ones medical history can take hours to review. Underwriters need to streamline the APS review. UW’s are nearing retirement age and the new UW’s won’t have their experience. Insurers must be able to quickly train the new UW’s and give them tools that give greater insights and provide predictable decisions. Insurers need to quickly increase the precision for all UW’s.[

Still need to look at the documents.

18 SCENARIO 1 - ANALYSIS Preferred – if labs are good
Colonoscopy ordered but not available Mammogram referred but not available Taking anything for depression? 45 minutes to Underwrite Senior UW agree that he gives a rating based on what he has read. Has to read the documents like a book. How did he extract the information? We want to use Datacap to extract as much information as necessary and organize it to tell a story for the UW

19 Extracting Key Medical Data Establish a chronology of declared and reported information
Medical Extractor MIB Key Info Bookmarked Redundant text Handwriting Chronology Diagnoses Prescriptions Procedures Extract prescription data from XML, MIB, no need to use Datacap but for APS and paramedical exams we use Datacap. Systematic approach to gather the information in a format the UW wants. APS is a collection of a lot of different documents all blended together into one document. Sometimes in chronological order sometimes they are not. Complication is trying to organize all of the data. Redundancy is also an issue. We have tools to identify redundant data and extract only what the UW needs. Cannot read physician handwriting. We alert the UW to what we can’t ready so UW can answer. Identifying redundant text, handwriting, chronology,
