Fleming County Schools Performance-Based Learning and Collaboration Grants The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.

Purpose of the Grant To increase performance-based learning in classrooms To increase collaboration between teachers and students. To focus on areas of Science, Social Studies, Math, Writing and Advanced CTE The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.

4 Requirements Teachers and students collaborating between schools.
Fleming County Schools Requirements Teachers and students collaborating between schools. Student hands-on learning projects (formative and summative) Funds can be used to purchase resources, supplies, etc. Funded projects must start by October 1st and end by April 28, 2017 Teachers of funded projects must present to the board in December and in a final presentation in April, May or June. The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.

Requirements If the project is K-6 or 6-7 the project must include teachers from ALL elementary schools. Example SMS middle school seventh grade teachers create a project (performance-based lessons) that includes collaboration with sixth grade teachers from EES, WES, FES and HES. The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.

6 Examples Fleming County Schools
3rd Grade Teachers from EES, WES, FES and HES working on a 6-week writing project that requires students to present to community stakeholders. 7th Grade Science Teachers working with HS AG Teachers to learn about Genetic Engineering Elementary, Middle and HS teachers working together to implement real-world geometry lessons – How Geometry influences Construction, Engineering, Space Flight, or Sports (Geometry and Skateboarding). 7th Grade Social Studies and World Civilization students creating a project of what the world will look like in the year 2100 – creating a model or PowerPoint presentation. Science and Math teachers and students working on weather probability 8th Math, Algebra I, and Business students collaborating to develop an APP. 4th Grade Teachers from EES, WES, FES and HES working with Mrs. Hall's classes to create an entrepreneurial activity. The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.

Key Points The product/project is the result of the learning and collaboration. Performance-based learning requires active engagement and students performing The grant project must be aligned to the standards. Special consideration will be given to applications that require students to present projects to the school and/or community. Focus on 21st Century Skills The vision of Fleming County Schools is to become a District of Distinction.
