Passover: Celebrated in the spring, commemorating God’s miraculous deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
Feast of weeks (Pentecost): celebrated 7 weeks after Passover, commemorating when God gave Moses the 10 Commandments.
Feast of booths: celebrated during harvest time showing thanks to God for God’s generosity. It also commemorated God’s provision during the desert wandering of their ancestors.

They expected the Messiah to be a law giver, like Moses
Sadducees:
Oversaw the temple
They expected a Messiah who would focus primarily on the Temple religious practices.

4. Sacrifices Burnt: Sin: Guilt:
Sacrifice as an act of worship and thanksgiving to God
An animal without any blemish or defect was burnt. completely to show thanks to God.
Sin:
Sacrifice to ask God to forgive sins committed against God.
An animal without blemish or defect was sacrificed to ask God for forgiveness.
Guilt:
Sacrifice to ask for forgiveness for a sin committed against another person.
An animal without blemish or defect was sacrificed to bring reconciliation.

Destroyed by the Babylonians in 58 BCE
2nd:
Construction was completed in 515 BCE under the governor Zerubabel
Destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE
