2 Holidays (Holy Days) Passover: Celebrated in the spring, commemorating God’s miraculous deliverance of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Feast of weeks (Pentecost): celebrated 7 weeks after Passover, commemorating when God gave Moses the 10 Commandments. Feast of booths: celebrated during harvest time showing thanks to God for God’s generosity. It also commemorated God’s provision during the desert wandering of their ancestors.

They expected the Messiah to be a law giver, like Moses Sadducees: Oversaw the temple They expected a Messiah who would focus primarily on the Temple religious practices.

Sacrifice as an act of worship and thanksgiving to God An animal without any blemish or defect was burnt. completely to show thanks to God. Sin: Sacrifice to ask God to forgive sins committed against God. An animal without blemish or defect was sacrificed to ask God for forgiveness. Guilt: Sacrifice to ask for forgiveness for a sin committed against another person. An animal without blemish or defect was sacrificed to bring reconciliation.
