On the following slides…
READ the question at the top. Do NOT write it down! Write the NAME OF THE STRUCTURE, and write its FUNCTION. Example: Root - The roots absorb water from the soil anchor the plant in place, absorb minerals from the soil. root -
6
What is the function of the root?
The roots absorb water from the soil anchor the plant in place, absorb minerals from the soil. root
7
What is the function of the stem?
The stem helps to support the plant and transports water and minerals. stem

SHOCK WARNING! Take notes… * All plants have MALE and FEMALE parts!
* They reproduce by the process of pollination. * Pollen from the MALE part of one plant must transfer to the FEMALE part of a different plant.
11
Take notes: stamen pistil The MALE part that produces pollen.
The FEMALE part that gets fertilized by pollen, and grows seeds in the flower’s ovaries.
12
Tube that pollen travels down
Read this slide: The pistil has 3 parts stigma (female part) Is ticky Catches pollen style Tube that pollen travels down ovary Contains eggs
13
Read this slide: The stamen anther filament pollen (male part)
Produces & contains pollen filament pollen Yellow powder Fertilizes eggs
14
Other parts of the flower
Take notes: Other parts of the flower petals sepal Colorful, bright petals attract pollinators like bees and birds. Like small green leaves, they protect the flower before it opens. receptacle End of flower stalk
