10,400 Seniors Demographic: 62% Hispanic/Latino 25% African American 76%economically disadvantaged. College Readiness: The average SAT score in HISD is 844/1600 (National average ~980) African American—781 Latino—812 Economically Disadvantaged—802 Foreign born—808 52% of HISD graduates attend college in Texas Of those, 36% have to take remediation classes

5 Who: Targeted Student Interventions
We knew, irrespective of their academic profile, certain HISD students were less likely to attend college Underrepresented minorities Economically disadvantaged Foreign-born Special education To combat these trends, we specifically target students on each campus for specific outreach and individual advising. About 30% of the senior class was specifically targeted in Refer to equity here and why these students are our primary focus.

6 How: College Success Program Buckets
College Success Program Goals APPLICATION Advise students to develop a college-going mindest, find the best fit & assist them through the college admission process MATRICULATION Support students in identifying the best fit college and assist them in taking steps to enroll PERSISTANCE Equip students with tools, resources and skills needed to persist in college toward graduation FAFSA: Empower students to increase federal grants and loan offers FINANCIAL AID Help students obtain grants, scholarships, and other forms of aid to increase affordability

Individual focus on seniors (fall and spring) and juniors (spring) Multiple differentiated advising templates Focus on goal setting, investment, mindset Tracking of individual advising interactions Group support on common criteria Progress monitoring of students for advising and applications
