1 WEEKAWAY CAMP YEAR 5/6 INFORMATION NIGHT

DEPARTURE MONDAY 9TH OCTOBER FIRST DAY OF TERM 4 DEPARTURE - LEAVE SCHOOL AT 9AM SHARP CHILDREN SHOULD BE AT SCHOOL AT 8.30AM ON MONDAY 9TH OCTOBER ARRIVAL - ARRIVE AT APPROX 11AM

3 MEDICAL IF YOUR CHILDREN HAVE ANY MEDICATION THAT THEY NEED TO TAKE, THIS MUST BE SEALED IN A ZIP LOCK BAG WITH THE MEDICAL FORM, EXPLAINING WHEN TO TAKE AND THE DOSAGE. Please make sure you arrive at school early (8.30) to sign this medication in with Maria Tymms

4 WHAT TO BRING Please ensure that your child’s things are CLEARLY NAMED. Please do not tie sleeping bags to luggage. Luggage is not to exceed 15kg weight. Sleeping bag (fitted sheet, pillow & pillow slip provided) Pyjamas or tracksuit Slippers, or shoes for wearing inside Water proof jacket Underwear & Socks (1 pair for each day + 2 spare; anklet socks NOT recommended) Shorts, Jeans and tracksuits Jumpers Shirts, T-shirts Shoes/boots/runners you can get wet (at least 2 pairs, old ones are best) Toiletries (soap, hairbrush, toothbrush & toothpaste, insect repellent) Bath towel & face washer Torch & spare batteries Small packet of tissues Garbage bag for dirty clothes Hat and sunscreen Drink bottle Medication – to be handed to school staff Recess and Lunch for the first day

5 WHAT TO BRING CONT. NOTE: Campers must bring a long-sleeved non-synthetic (ie. Wool or cotton) shirt or jumper, long trousers and a hat, as recommended by the Department of Education and the Country Fire Authority. *For bed wetters, parents should provide an extra sleeping bag that can be safely dried in a commercial clothes dryer. *Even in summer, students should have at least one long sleeved shirt or warm jumper (not 100% synthetic) and long trousers. WHAT NOT TO BRING Good Clothes Lollies Valuable Items (eg. Computerised games, mobile phones) Chewing Gum! Snack food containing egg or nuts.

10 CABINS Students stay in cabins ranging from 4 to 6 children in each cabin Boys stay with boys on one side Girls stay with girls on the other side There is a boys bathroom and a girls bathroom Students chose 3 friends they wanted to be with – they are with at least 1 of these

12 ACTIVITY GROUPS Students are split into 5 groups which have 12 or 13 students in each. They rotate through all activities with these groups. Activities will have trained camp staff if needed (Eg. Flying Fox) These same groups will be on duty (breakfast, lunch, dinner) on a rotational basis.

14 Specialised activities are conducted by Activity Co-ordinators with assistance from school staff. Other activities are conducted by school staff after instruction at the start of camp. All equipment is provided. Archery, Initiative Course and The Maze – Teacher run Flying Fox, Laser Tag, Low Ropes – Camp Coordinator run

15 FREE TIME ACTIVITIES Free Time Activities: There are many activities to do outside during free time. These include, but are not limited to: Basketball (inside the Recreation Hall) Volleyball Cricket Ball games (soccer/football etc.)

16 NIGHT ACTIVITIES TRIVIA NIGHT CAMP CONCERT/TALENT SHOW
CAMP FIRE OR MOVIE NIGHT These are conducted as a whole group

17 SAMPLE MENU Breakfasts: Cereals (Corn Flakes, Just Right, Rice Bubbles, Weet Bix) Toast: Jam, Vegemite, Honey Pancakes, Spaghetti, Baked Beans, Hash Browns Orange Juice, Tea, Coffee, Milo Lunches: Pizzas, Pies, Pasties, Quiches, Chicken & Salad Wraps Sandwiches, Rolls, Picnic Lunches, Bush Lunches BBQ: Sausages and Hamburgers served with Salads Cake, Fruit, Cordial Dinners: Main Course: Roast Lamb or Beef, Chicken Schnitzels, Lasagne, Meatballs & Rice; served with Vegetables BBQ: Sausages and Hamburgers served with Salads Chicken & Salad Wraps Desserts: Apple Crumble, Fruit Salad, Ice cream, Chocolate Mousse Morning and Afternoon Teas: Cordial, Fruit, Biscuits Supper: Tea, Coffee, Milo, Cordial Chocolate Crackles, Chocolate Truffles, Honey Joys, Marshmallows

18 RETURN Picnic at Hanging Rock for lunch
Leave camp on Thursday 12th October at approx. 1.30pm Arrive at school approx. 3.15pm Updates on arrival time will be sent via FlexiBuzz (Previously TiqBiz) Please do not call the office.

19 RETURN Parents can pick their children up from the front of the school when we arrive back Parents must speak with the teacher to sign their children out. If another parent is taking your children please organise (note/prior to)
