2 Summary of Chile Lead Center activities and results in year 2014-2015
CBS-LC-GCOS 5  Summary of Chile Lead Center activities and results in year Chile uses the GCOS focal point list of the WMO for contacting focal points in RA III and outside in case of missing or incorrect CLIMAT bulletins, based on the information obtained from the center of Germany, the Deutscher Wetter Dienst (DWD). In Region III, the NMHSs that generate and emit CLIMAT in BUFR format are Argentina, Brazil, Chile - Chile only transmits the Climat in BUFR since October 2015 - Staff of Chile is currently advising Venezuela to implement the transmission of BUFR. - There are 6 stations GUAN in the region that are recorded just below the minimum requirement and in most cases this is due to the fact that soundings do not reach above 30 hPa level: To Solve this problem in Chile the balloons of 350g were replaced by those of 600g. .

10 CBS-LC-GCOS 5  RECOMMENDATIONS To plan a workshop in Region III about GCOS (Implementation Plan), its objectives and the structure of a regional optimal network, both GSN and GUAN. Due to the amount of silent stations, GCOS should stimulate the members of the Region to evaluate the possibility of incorporating new stations. Given the delay in some countries in implementing the BUFR code, it is necessary that GCOS identify dates to issue the bulletin in BUFR and help countries in implementing it, if it is necessary. The GCOS focal point list is very useful for Lead Center, for this reason is necessary that every years GCOS-WMO asks to the PRs for confirmation or to send the new nomination of the its GCOS National focal point .

11 CBS-LC-GCOS 5  Action undertaken The CBS Lead Centre of Chile has study the current situation of each country and sent s to the countries under Chile Responsibility and following there are the status of countries having problems. In case of not have response of the focal point, we send document to the Director of the Service indicating the problems in the sending of the bulletins
