CLASS ACTIVITIES My students will engage in many activities that will help them develop their English language skills; for example: -Research -Debates -Independent Reading -Journal -Conversational English -Vocabulary Development -Exploring United States History -Reading Literature and Informational Text -Presentations -ENL Computer Lab -Writing Process -Reading Workshop -Google Classroom Ms. Hubbard, ENL Teacher, PKHS I am pleased to be your child’s ENL teacher and look forward to working with each one of my students and their families. All students will be challenged with rigorous and meaningful content integrated ENL instruction. I expect that my students will put forth their best efforts each and every day, and I can promise that I will work hard to create a learning environment in which they will have multiple opportunities to excel academically. On a daily basis , we will read fiction and non fiction texts, as well as write extensively about what we read. There is a classroom library, a school library and a community public library. Students should make it a daily practice to read, read, read, and read some more. My students must obtain library cards from the Peekskill Field Library, 4 Nelson Street, Peekskill, NY. This is graded. The library , which is open every day and has evening hours, has a collection of Spanish and Arabic language books. With their library cards, student s may borrow books, use the computers and iPads, and borrow audio and eBooks (and movies). Classwork 20% -If you do not complete classwork please return for Call Back or Elton Brand for assistance. Participation Attendance Behavior 20% -Arrive to class every day on time, participate in all classroom activities, and be respectful. Exams/Quizzes 20% -Study for exams/quizzes and obtain additional help from teacher during Call Back and Elton Brand. Homework 20% -Complete all assignments by the deadlines. Late or copied work will lose points. Projects 20% -Complete all projects by deadlines. Late projects will lose points. Follow the rubric/checklist for each project.
